Motorbike Adventures

October 2022: We finally got the bike driving class done but then realized that the BMW bike is way too big for us. Bought a Royal Enfield Sandstorm Signals as a training bike.

We do practice rounds in the Church parking lot close to home and ventured out in the neighborhood on weekends. The Enfield 350cc Classic is based on a design in WWII from Britain but with a modern power plant. It is now made in India. The list price of $4500 plus some dealer fees is great. Cheap, really good and very enjoyable. A bit heavy though as it retains all steel construction. It shifts very smoothly. We got the “Signals” edition. The “Signals” edition is a tribute to the British and Indian Army’s Signal Corps, which played a significant role in communication during various wars. The couriers and their bikes endured long travels through jungles, deserts, Himalayas, you name it. Here is a nice advertising clip.

Bought this 2004 BMW r1150r for the Kettenkrad project from on old gentleman who struggled to decide if he wants to let it go or not. It is in amazing condition. The goal is to disassemble it and use front and engine for my Kettenkrad project. It is so nice though that I need to learn to ride first. Scheduled bike driver class in August 2022.
